Jackie Rulander,
Coach, Trainer & Creative Producer.
I have worked with people development for more than 10 years with an international non-profit organisation.
I definitely understand feeling stuck. Many years ago I made a change which led me on the people development path which of course led to my own development.
I have recently made another change to focus even more on people development, stepping away from Human Resources and focusing on developing my coaching and training skills.
I am passionate about seeing people grow and develop, especially young professionals, people planning to make a major life change, and leaders who are living and working cross-culturally.
FAQs about Coaching
What is coaching?
- Coaching is a collaborative process where a coach helps individuals or groups achieve their personal or professional goals. This involves facilitating learning conversations, developing skills, improving performance, and enhancing the overall quality of life.
How is coaching different from therapy or counseling?
- While therapy or counselling often focuses on addressing past issues and emotional healing, coaching is future-oriented, emphasizing goal-setting, personal development, and performance enhancement. Coaches work with clients who are generally mentally healthy and looking to achieve specific objectives.
Who can benefit from coaching?
- Anyone looking to improve their personal or professional life can benefit from coaching. This includes executives, entrepreneurs, employees, students, athletes, and individuals seeking personal growth.
If I choose ATP coaching how does it work?
- Roadmap for sessions: After you have chosen coaching as the way forward with ATP we discuss what you the client want to achieve from the package of sessions. We look at your life’s vision and mission. We plan each session around what you want to accomplish.
- Goal Setting: Some clients already know with which specific goals they would like to work when they decide to seek coaching. Some clients need to be able to think that through with their coach.
We will work together to define the areas with which you would like to work, the changes you would like to see and then create some general goals in those areas that we can then work through in the sessions. - Action Planning: Creating a strategy to achieve these goals. The strategy will include the main things that need to be accomplished for your goal to be realised. We will then create a plan of action based on the steps that need to be taken to reach the aims of the strategy.
- Accountability: We will meet based on the coaching package you have purchased, according to an agreed upon schedule. We can also keep in contact via sms etc to track progress, address challenges, and adjust plans as needed.
- Evaluation: At the end of our time together we will review the journey that we have taken together and evaluate based on the goals that you wanted to accomplish from the beginning. You then decide if you feel the need to continue coaching or wish to end our journey.
How does the ACTIVATE PDP work?
- For 16 weeks we meet for 8 sessions of 90 minutes duration every other week. During this time, we work through 8 modules of training and guided reflection. For each module there is prerecorded material that will help guide you through the exercises and information. We discuss your reflections and learning when we meet in the sessions. Where necessary you will also receive coaching during the session as you work through the programme. By the end of 16 weeks you will have created goals, strategies and action plans to make these goals possible.
How much time do I need to set aside each week?
- You should set aside 2 to 6 hours each week, i.e. in less than 1 hour a day. Much depends on how much time you need for reflection. Sit with the programme for 1 hour each day should more than suffice for this programme. N.B. Some modules will ask more of you than others.
What kinds of things will I need to do between our meetings?
- Most modules begin with a video introducing the module in some way. You may also need to watch another video, do an activity away from a desk, complete an exercise in your workbook. Each module contains a section where you reflect on how a principal applies to your life.
